Last weekend we spent a couple of peaceful hours filming the coast near Godrevy Lighthouse.

Weather and Light
When we arrived and found somewhere to park there was a thick bank of fog along the coast. By the time we had walked along the coast path for a while, it was starting to clear and the sun started to appear in between the clouds. It was fairly warm for a January day.
Soundscape
White noise of waves on the cliffs below with the occasional boom as a swell hit the rocks.

Wildlife
This is a great location for seeing seals. Further around the headland there’s a colony, and from where we sat we watched many of them playing in the water below.
We also saw the usual gulls, heard oystercatchers, and noticed several very busy smaller birds flitting through the grasses, which I couldn’t quite identify. Near the car park we could clearly hear a skylark singing.
While we were filming, a small group of horses could be seen further along the coast, precariously grazing on the steep slopes.

Location
If you are planning a visit there are a few national trust car parks around this area. We initially planned to go to the one between Gwythian beach and Godrevy Head but it was too busy so we drove along the coast towards Portreath and parked at North Cliffs.
If you’d like to spend half an hour with the scene, the full video is below. It’s intended for those who love the coast and would like to feel as though they are there or for anyone that wants to enjoy it quietly as a background piece to their day.
Enjoy the calm
